BEYOND OPEN MICS

Buck Morgan will lead a panel discussion about how to get those precious paying gigs.

Panel Discussion with: Pascale Hall, Opening Bell Coffee House, Mary Guthrie, Mary and the Mood Swings, and DSA President, Steve Sullivan.

Think you're ready to play a real gig after conquering the open mic at the local coffee shop?

The Dallas Songwriters Assoc. hopes to learn from the experiences of others as it hosts a panel discussion on "Beyond Open Mic" featuring Mary Guthrie of Merry and the Mood Swings, Pascale Hall, president and CEO of Opening Bell Coffee, Inc. (a popular venue that books musicians daily), and Steve Sullivan, who has developed performance opportunties for DSA members at three different venues.

DSA Meeting Tuesday, March 10 2009 6:30-9:30

Guest Speaker: Bob Paterno
Topic: How to Promote Your Music Thru Online Social Networks.

About Bob:
Bob Paterno was sitting in his cubicle when a middle manager from down the hall stormed into his office.
The manager asked, "I heard you're leaving the company to write music for a living, is this true? Have you thought this through?! Do you know how hard it is to make a living in that business!? Do you know the odds of getting your songs on the radio?!" The manager was clearly frustrated. Bob looked back at the manager and calmly said, "The odds are better than me becoming CEO here."

And so after eight years working as an engineer, eight years of corporate management encouraging him to think outside the box, Bob left his 8' x 8' box to pursue his passion, music.
