CRUEL CALCULATING HEART

© 2003 Mike Hyden

He’s had one too many

Since the day she let him go

He’s trying to find anything

To ease his heavy load

Yeah, I know what he’s feeling

She had me there before

And soon we’ll see him kneeling

Just begging her for more

            (Chorus)

She’s got a cruel and calculating heart

The kind that lies so well and never fails

            To tear a man apart

And a cruel but captivating mind

The kind that lures you in but look out friend

            She’ll stab you from behind

I really tried to warn him

Of the things she’s gonna do

But he was too in love to believe

Any part of them was true

And just because he’s stronger

Than I was at the time

It’ll only take her longer

To rearrange his mind

            (Repeat Chorus)

            (Bridge)

You look so hard and try to find

A reason why she robbed you blind

And though you’re not the drinking kind

You try to drink her off your mind

            You pour another whiskey down

            And order up another round

And drink your self into the ground, for who

Do you do what you do

You play the drunkard’s part, just for the girl

            With the cruel calculating heart

I wish that I could keep him

From his second time around

She may lift him up just as high

But she’ll leave him further down

And oh I find it frightening

This advocate of sin

Could be so damn enticing

To bring him back again

(Repeat Chorus)
