One Night Song's strongest suit was the emotional impact, which is somewhat an oxymoron because the song idea is about not getting involved. The singer's appeal to his lover is subtly seductive trying to brush off the intimate moment as just a 'one night song', yet admitting his vulnerability - a need to not be lonely. I hear this lyric sung as a blues song on a piano bar. |
