SNOW ANGEL
(c) 2003
SaraLee Rehkopf
Verse 1
I read
your name carved in stone,
My tears
turn to ice as I stand alone.
It’s
silent here with snow so deep,
A soft
white blanket where you sleep.
Remembering
how we used to play,
I made a
snow angel where you lay.
Blue
shadows lengthen, it grows late.
Knee deep
I wade toward the gate.
Climb:
With one
last look before I go,
I see two
angels in the snow.
Chorus:
I can only
stand and stare,
At those
snow angels lying there.
Mine so
tall with wings spread wide,
And yours
not even half my size.
Verse
2:
The
answer’s plain for now I see
The
memories are mine to keep.
Of
toboggan rides and carols sung,
Snowflakes
melting on your tongue.
How you
threw with all your might,
To win in
all our snowball fights.
Your
laughter tinkling like a bell,
Big blue
eyes I loved so well.
Chorus:
I can only
stand and stare,
At those
snow angels lying there.
Mine so
tall with wings spread wide,
And yours
not even half my size.
Verse
3:
Now I know
that once love starts,
It’s
always here within our hearts.
A part of
you is here with me,
I smile
and feel a sense of peace.
I breathe
your name into the air,
And like
frost crystals, it hangs there.
My heart
is lighter on this day,
That God let you come out to play
