TWO KINDS OF COUPLES
© 2005 Mike Parrish
Called Granddad got him up out of bed
And I cried to him there on the phone
My wife and I fight most every night
He said, "Come on and see us at home."
Sitting up there, in their rocking chairs
They were sharing a vanilla cone
Love in their eyes at seventy-five
So I asked them where I had gone wrong
(Pre-Chorus)
Granddad said, "Take the crown off your head
You're gonna have to give up the throne
(Chorus)
There's only two kinds of couples
So son, you have to make a choice
Got the kind with the wife in charge
Other kind's getting a divorce
There's only two kinds of couples
Chose rocking with Ma on the porch
He asked his wife, "I say that right?"
Her simple answer was, "Of course"
Now we've grown old with her in control
Got a bunch of grandkids of our own
Took the right track and didn't look back
Happiness is all that we have known
Other night I awoke with a fright
To the sound of a ringing phone
Sat up in bed, the phone to my head
I heard my grandson say in a moan
(Pre-Chorus)
My wife and I fight most every night
I said, "Come up and see us at home."
(Repeat Chorus)
Bridge (Optional)
Message for men repeated again
And the world keeps a spinning along
(Repeat Chorus)
