2ND PLACE DSA 2006
SUMMER LYRIC CONTEST

Judges Comments

A happy tune that begs to be sung, danced to, get a groove on.  Again, good hook, very catchy, and well written.  If it’s not true, it otta be!
Never Been Better Street

I met my baby on the wrong side of town.
I thought that maybe I could show her around.
She said she’s sorry, she was just passing through
But I could come along, if I wanted to.

She took me to places unlike I’ve ever seen,
With smiling faces, an American dream.
I must reveal I feel that life’s so good
Since we’ve been living in this new neighborhood.

CHORUS:       So close your eyes and feel the beat,
Clap your hands and tap your feet
Singing, I think maybe baby life’s so sweet
Since we’ve been living on Never Been Better Street.

White picket fences, laughing children at play
Excite my senses in a magical way.
I can’t deny that I could never foresee
Someone like she’d be, liking someone like me.

Repeat Chorus

So do me a favor, take a friend by the hand
Go grab a neighbor, time to strike up the band
I can’t believe that we’ve got nothing to do
But sing and dance along this sweet avenue

Repeat Chorus

Singing, I think maybe baby, life’s so sweet
Since we’ve been living on Never Been Better Street
