1ST PLACE DSA 2006
SUMMER LYRIC CONTEST

Judges Comments

Well written, easy to sing, rhymes are not forced.  LET ME answers the universal fears inherent in relationships.  The simple title keeps you looking for that hook, but gives an added punch when it comes at the end of the chorus, and the tag at the end of the song leaves the hook in your memory banks. Good job.

LET ME

  >

There are so many things that I want you to know. >

I’ve been holding back, trying to take this real slow. >

I’ve been trying to protect myself, not sure what from, >

But ever since I met you, all my fears have come undone. >

I feel like I can tell you anything, and you’ll understand. >

I want you to feel the same, I’ll help you any way I can. >

  >

CHORUS: >

Let me be there for you >

Let me be the one you turn to >

Open up your heart to me >

Good and bad, let me see everything. >

Let me be your shoulder to lean on >

The one you call if anything goes wrong. >

I could be just what you need…. If you let me. >

  >

I’m not sure what’s going on, but I need you to see >

That I’ll be here, so don’t doubt me. >

When I said you were a friend of mine, >

I meant I would be there for you anytime. >

You can share everything, your worries and your fears. >

And if you’re hurting, baby, I’ll wipe away your tears. >

  >

REPEAT CHORUS: >

  >

When you’re with me, you can put your fears aside. >

There’s not anything that you need to hide. >

You can tell me anything, we can talk all night. >

Lay your body next to me, I’ll hold you tight. >

And you don’t have to worry about me walking away. >

I assure you, baby, I’m here to stay. >

  >

REPEAT CHORUS: >

  >

Don’t you know you can count on me? >

I’ll do my best to be just what you need >

If you let me.
