2ND PLACE DSA 2006
SUMMER LYRIC CONTEST

Judges Comments

The first two lines set the stage – this is a reverie, a chain of thought.  Although circles are often the focus of songs, PERFECT CIRCLE sums it up as someone being between the things that lie ahead of us and all the things we’ve seen.  I also like the truism of “hands of time keep turning, but they never turn away.”  This is a song that will get YOU thinking.  Very nice.

PERFECT CIRCLE

Raindrops making circles in the puddles on the ground
Reflections of my thoughts in the circles spinning round.
Life makes a perfect circle, and we’re somewhere in between

The things that lie ahead of us, and all the things we’ve seen.

CHORUS:
Circles and cycles and all the people I see
All living their lives running ‘round in circles just like me.
Stages and changes, once lost but twice found.
Life makes a perfect circle when it all comes back around.

Hands of time keep turning, but they never turn away.
What you want most in life you have to give away.
Knowing where I started was a good place to begin.
Life makes a perfect circle, when it all comes ‘round again.

CHORUS:
Circles and cycles and all the people I see
All living their lives running ‘round in circles just like me.
Stages and changes, once lost but twice found.
Life makes a perfect circle when it all comes back around.

Stages and changes, once lost but twice found.
Life makes a perfect circle when it all comes back around.
